Development of DSRC Interface Standard for Traffic Information Service.

Abstract

Recently a Electronic Toll Collection System (ETCS) was constructed in the tollgate of the whole country of Korea using Dedicated Short Range Communication (DSRC) and On Board Units (OBU). Research and commercialization for Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) service of various parts that traffic information collection offers signal control for public traffic information and management. There are many researches that traffic information collection and offer using OBU and ETCS. But part of DSRC application standard and standard for traffic collection and offer are not established clearly. So the authors are supposed that application of standard traffic information exchange which Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs putted applies DSRC standard traffic information collection and offer method without standard related DSRC no change using action premetive of DSRC communication. Supposed system of standard application method was established using Road Side Equipment (RSE) and 7 communication range antenna and OBE used in the field. For confirmation efficiency and performance of system, system was constructed in real road and we gave a test in the systemusing 4 vehicles. Result of real road test confirmed that efficiency of supposed standard application method though about 97% communication success-rate. The paper suggested that analysis of problems and research direction in the future though about 3% communication success-rate.
