Abstract

In this paper, the establishment in 1984 and organisation of the Egyptian National Institute of Transport (ENIT) is described. The objectives of the organisation are: (a) to recruit and qualify trainers; (b) to provide introductory level courses for new employees joining the transport industry; and (c) to train middle and senior level managers. In 1988 the ENIT Library was established as the first specialised transport library in the country. Current and proposed training programmes to be opened by ENIT are outlined.
