Abstract

The development of a flywheel-powered propulsion system for full-size transit buses is in progress. It is a new alternative system which is economical, energy efficient ecologically acceptable and not directly dependant on petroleum-based fuels. The system is based on the use of a large capacity, high energy density composite flywheel.
