Abstract

In the Netherlands a long term policy of traffic and transport for the year 2010 is now being developed. In addition to passenger transport, attention will also be given to the freight transport and new forms of transport such as telecommunication. For selecting the most responsible policy measure, it is necessary to have insight into the effects in the future. These effects will be determined through a comparison of these measures with a combination of a number of social scenarios and land use patterns. This paper describes the method followed, the formulation of the possible policy strategies and the contents of the social scenarios.
