Abstract

A new prototype ATD thorax has been developed to be compatible with the G.M. Hybrid III test dummy. This new chest provides a better opportunity to incorporate certain characteristics of live human beings when subjected to upper torso belt loading. This paper describes the deflection response characteristics of the new surrogate at subinjurious and injurious impact levels.
