Abstract

In Japan and many other developed countries, the number and proportion ofelderly drivers are rapidly increasing. Air pollution by automobile exhaust gas is a serious problem, particularly in urban areas. This paper describes the estimation of the exhaust gas quantity using a traffic simulationmodel based on driver parameters with particular consideration of aged drivers. It is demonstrated that both the NOx emission and fuel consumption increase with the number of aged drivers. For the covering abstract see ITRD E134653.
