The development of the radio information system for road traffic.

Abstract

Since about 1970, motorists have been informed about traffic conditions on the motorways by means of radio broadcasts. The system could be improved if a denser system of automatic data collection, efficient data processing and a quick conversion of the data into information to be broadcast via the radio information system were available. The improvement of the topicality of the traffic information is not so much a technical as a financial problem. Suitable measures in this respect will be taken by the Federal Republic of Germany in the years to come.
