Abstract

Japan's Advanced Cruise-Assist Highway Systems (AHS) project has selected seven services based on analyses of traffic accidents, and is promoting research and development aimed at realization of these services starting in 2003. Of these seven services, the authors developed algorithms for realizing the three services for preventing: (1) crossing collision accidents, (2) right turn collision accidents and (3) collision accidents with pedestrians crossing streets, which occur inside intersections. The validity of these algorithms was also verified through vehicle tests. For the covering abstract see ITRD E114174.
