Abstract

The purpose of this study is the development of a Traffic Simulation System on the Nagoya Expressway capable of predicting the future traffic conditions on the Nagoya Expressway for the network as a whole. This study has been conducted by modeling the behavior of the individual vehicle lanes in the various sections such as the road, junction, and tollgate sections as well as the alignment and structure of the road. Then this model has been confirmed that the results are roughly consistent by validation between predicted data and the measurement data such as the congestion levels on the Nagoya Expressway. Furthermore, the simulation system has been used to predict the traffic conditions that would arise if intensive (all-at once) road construction works were carried out on the Nagoya Expressway. The findings suggest that the system can be used for the development of preliminary measures. For the covering abstract see ITRD E114174.
