Abstract

MADYMO is a joint project of the institute for road safety research SWOV and the research institute for road vehicles IW-TNO. MADYMO is a general purpose computer program package for crash victim simulation written in fortran iv. it is a mathematical alternative to laboratory experiments using dummies, cadavers or volunteers in cars or on deceleration sleds. This handbook for the MADYMO crash victim package contains a general description of the package together with detailed input/output and program structure descriptions. The general description (chapter 1) enables the prospective user of the program to judge if MADYMO suits his special simulation requirements. It also gives details of the input data needed by the programs for a simulation. The input/output description (chapters 2 and 3) gives all the information a programmer needs to make the input data file. The program description (chapters 4 and 5) explains the program structure and how the program is dimensioned for a particular simulation. This handbook gives all the necessary information to use MADYMO for most types of simulations. Companion volumes - MADYMO theory, MADYMO programs and MADYMO simulations - give additional information concerning the theoretical base, and the subroutines and a number of simulation examples.
