Abstract

Beginning with the dislocation of traffic flows in the post-war period, developments in the transport policies of the Central and Eastern European countries as they changed over from a planned economy, to the beginnings of a market economy are described. The principles underlying the Community's transport policy and the question of what steps the Community could take in relation to transport under existing and future agreements with the states of Central and Eastern Europe are discussed.
