Abstract

This paper summarizes the principal findings of a study conducted at MIT on the Dial-A-Bus system. Both technical and non-technical factors are considered. Computer-based scheduling algorithms were developed for generalized many-to-many (many origins to many destinations) Dial-A-Bus service. The performance of these algorithms under a variety of different operating conditions is evaluated.
