Abstract

DIADEM (DIAlogue Design and Evaluation Method) is a program tool that supports the model-based evaluation of human-machine dialogues with regard to specific conditions in vehicles. It is integrated with a prototyping tool for user interfaces. The evaluation method is based on an approach of modelling the driver's task-related knowledge by means of production systems. Cognitive complexity measures are derived, such as learning and execution time, visual distraction, and required a priori knowledge. The production system models of the driver's tasks are generated by executing the tasks at a dialogue prototype. (A)
