Abstract

From summaries of the specific effects of psychotherapeutic drugs related to personality details, it can be seen that useful knowledge about the effects of psychoactive substances can only be obtained for those test subjects for which they are therapeutically prescribed. Considering long term effects dosages should be chosen which are suitable therapeutically and from the traffic-medical aspect. Considering several psycho-active substances it can be stated that the relationship between plasma concentrations and clinical effects (i.e. for driving ability) are not linear but of a higher order. On this basis, the changes due to psychotherapeutic drugs from time-development patterns which, contrary to simple pre-post-designs, are initially obvious in development-investigations, give decisive new information about the effects of acute- and chronically applied drugs. Using the classification system illustrated, the psychotropic drugs and their range of effects are systematically represented.
