A simulation experiment is reported which investigated the influence of the described advance warning upon the driving pattern of following-drivers. The influence of speeds and the possibility of anticipating bends and speed changes of the leading vehicle are discussed. The most important results of this investigation are summarised. It is demonstrated that not only is the speed behaviour of the leading vehicle influenced by the advance notice of the carriageway alignment, but also the advance warning influences the following drivers' behaviour. Further analyses will follow.
