Abstract

The development of W. Berlin after 1948 is briefly sketched. Then two pedestrian areas are described. Later areas were developed with traffic restraint.Shop keepers were afraid of losing customers, but like the area now. The aim is to make pedestrians and drivers happy at the same time.
