Abstract

The requirements of a video camera for use in traffic monitoring and enforcement applications are discussed and the traffic camera developed by Eastman Kodak for this purpose is described. Kodak's Megaplus camera KDTC-10 has been designed for integration into other manufacturer's traffic surveillance systems. The camera incorporates a square pixel pitch, an ISO speed of 1200 and can operate with a rear infrared flash. Images are digitised in the camera control unit and sent to the camera interface card. Applications for the camera are briefly described and include a) red light enforcement, b) speed limit enforcement, c) weigh-in-motion and d) toll collection.
