Abstract

When a driver is overtaking a slower vehicle on a two-lane road, he may be confronted with an oncoming vehicle and therefore may be faced with a decision whether to complete or abort the overtaking in progress. In a marginal situation he may find that he is too far along in the overtaking to abort and at the same time has not progressed for enough to complete the maneuver safely. The possibility that such a difficulty may exist is analyzed.
