Abstract

Bicycle theft has become a significant law enforcement problem. Making the theft more difficult and reducing the ease of resale are suggested as countermeasures. Bicycle identification and registration programs can bring about the latter. Secure bicycle parking areas, improved bicycle security devices, and a better knowledge by the bike owner of methods of reducing the risk of theft will help accomplish the former.
