Abstract

This paper describes the "transportation information base of people with disabilities", designed and built by the Hickling Corporation under contract to Transport Canada. This information base is possibly the most comprehensive national database describing the transportation and socio-economic patterns of disabled persons. Data are provided on: a) the number of disabled people in Canada with transportation related disabilities; b) the current travel patterns of disabled people and the difficulties which they encounter in using both long distance and intercity transport modes and urban transportation systems.
