This paper presents information on Canadians with transportation-related disabilities and describes some of the transportation requirements of this population group (market), as well as identifies the scope of new business opportunities presented to Canadian industry by the needs and requirements of this market. The source of data is the "transportation Information Base (TIB) of People with Disabilities", designed and built by Transport Canada, and currently being expanded into the Transportation Accessiblity Information Base under Transport Canada's National Strategy for the Integration of Persons with Disabilities. An innovative feature of this project was the formulation and application of a practical definition of "transportation disability". (A)
