Abstract

It is primarily concerned with identifying the research and development needed to build general models of mode choice that are based on the modelling of individual behaviour. The existing aggregate associative models are discussed in general terms, and their shortcomings are identified. The rationale of disaggregate behavioural models is then put forward, and the potentials of such a modelling technique are discussed.
