Abstract

With recent changes in the environment and potential human and natural disasters, the need for preparedness has become a focal point of research. If timely evacuation in response to such threats are not well coordinated, the result could be significantly fatal. This paper covers a comprehensiveanalysis of traffic operation in the event of tsunami. Effectiveness of acontrolled traffic routing under such an event is discussed with the use of Advanced Traveler Management and Information System (ATMIS). With suggested future recommendations, this paper can be of great use as a guidelinein preparing a successful emergency evacuation system.
