Abstract

The question addressed in this report is whether the subjective appraisal of discomfort glare caused by highway lighting can be reasonably predicted from a photometrically based formula. Observers were driven along roads and asked to complete a questionnaire. The condition of major interest was discomfort due to glare. Data do not permit to reject the Adrian-Schreuder formula as a matter discomfort due to glare.
