Abstract

Field Operational Tests (FOT) are large-scale test programmes aiming at a comprehensive assessment of the efficiency, quality, robustness and acceptance of ICT solutions used for smarter, safer, cleaner and more comfortable transport solutions. In Europe, these tests were mainly carried out at the national level. However, in recent years, a common European framework has been established and has led to the launch of a number of European FOTS supported by the FOT-Net platform. FOT-Net was set up in 2008 to provide a strategic networking platform for all stakeholder groups from public and private sectors playing an active role in running or national, European and international FOTs (e.g. US and Japan). The prime goal of FOT-Net 2 is to increase the momentum achieved in FOT-Net 1 and further develop the strategic networking of existing and future national, European and global FOTs. This dissemination and awareness strategy provides guidance for the work of FOT-Net 2 work package 7 (Dissemination & Awareness). It builds on a similar report drafted in FOT-Net 1, and in this respect, it will take forward many of the good activities and processes established in FOT-Net 1, whilst reinforcing some existing activities such as the Wiki and communication with the general public and also introducing some new aspects, such as social media tools and a FOT Dissemination Liaison Group.
