Abstract

A method was investigated to produce a traffic assignment network from a digital road map (DRM). This paper reports on the distinction of link terrain types with the decision list method. The distinction is carried out by obtaining if-then rules which refer to the features of links that can be read from the DRM itself. A test is carried out by checking the output with manually obtained answers to determine the accuracy. The results reveal that the proposed method can efficiently distinguish the terrain types of large numbers of links by assigning terrain types to small numbers of links.
