Abstract

The Connected Vehicle Trade Association's (CVTA) new Connected Vehicle Proving Center (CVPC) in Michigan, USA will allow users to test and progress the development of products and methods of communicating and gain access to information on vehicle connectivity. The CVPC will be a distributed test site and essentially a large IP server facility. The aim is to link wireless-enabled roads, proving grounds, test tracks, test laboratories and traffic management centres with a centralised data processing, evaluation and training centre. The CVPC will also allow benchmarking and showcasing. One by-product of the CVPC's creation will be the ability to find out what is missing from communications for transport and to consider how different domains work together.
