Abstract

The possibility of making distributional judgements from the Marshallian consumers' surplus associated to an aggregated transport demand is discussed. The transport of an aggregate commodity between two points is analysed. The relationship between transport demand and the economic activity at each point is explicitly shown, assuming competitive conditions.
