Abstract

The use of a dome-architecture to enable the development of new ITS services is discussed. The development of a dome-architecture in the Netherlands is described briefly. The background and findings of the created dome architecture are outlined. ITS services are examined in relation to society, policy and environmental issues. Another point of view is related to the potential of ICT (information and communication technologies) and how to translate these opportunities into ITS services. The connection of these two views and linking societal ITS services to the technical ITS services are discussed. This link will help creating new images of ITS services. The dome-architecture provides a gathering place for business and governmental organisations to co-operate. For the covering abstract see ITRD E114174.
