Abstract

Tremendous efforts are expanded to prevent the burden of psychoactive substance use on users, their families and society in general. Yet, globally substance use is growing due to changes in lifestyle, the erosion of powers of censure that have existed in traditional societies and an increased acceptance of such substances. In this commentary, the author briefly analyse the ingredients of a successful targeted intervention in North America over the last 20 years against driving while under the influence of alcohol.
