Abstract

This contribution gives an impression about theory and practice of a special traffic behaviour observation method, and shows results of different studies, where the "Wiener Fahrprobe" method has been applied. It also shows how the method and its results can be used in the frame of the European Traffic (safety) Research Projects "PROMETHEUS" and "DRIVE". With regard to the new Road and Traffic Information (RTI) systems, there exist no accident data at all until now. Before the application of RTI systems, it seems important to have a sophisticated social-psychological method for testing the behaviour and interaction of road users in connection with these systems, provided that they are socially compatible.
