Abstract

A Grafie Severity Rating System (GSRS) was developed as ameans for reducing the incidence and severity of truckaccidents on downgrades. The ultimate result is a roadsidesign at the top of each hill. The sign is tailored to theindividual hill and gives a recommended maximum speed (tobe held constant for the entire grafie descent) for eachof several truck weight ranges.
