Abstract

The results of investigations carried out in the 1960s and 70s into the role of alcohol in adult pedestrian accidents are briefly outlined. A project is then described which aims to replicate the controlled study of fatal pedestrian accidents undertaken by Clayton et al (1977) and to extend the study to include injured pedestrians taken to hospitals within the study area. Some initial results are presented and comparisons made with the results of the 1977 study.
