Abstract

This issue of Current Topics includes over 70 abstracts of reports, conference papers, books and journal articles which focus on the identification and measurement of unsafe driving behaviour, measures to encourage safe driving practice, and ways in which drivers adapt their behaviour in relation to safety measures. Among the unsafe behaviours covered are aggressive driving, speeding, close-following, and driving under attention-distracting conditions, such as stress or when using mobile telephones. Abstracts are included on the influence of driver experience, age, mood, attitude, attitude to risk taking, health, driving style etc. However driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, and driver fatigue are covered in separate Current Topics in Transport. These items have been selected from the material added to the Transport Research Laboratory's Library Database between 2004 and 2006. Much of the relevant English language published literature from the UK, USA, Australia and Europe is included; some of the non-UK literature is included courtesy of the OECD International Transport Research Documentation (ITRD) database. Abstracts for the years 1995-1997 can be found in the previous issue of this title (Current Topics in Transport 80.1 (C 10582 S (IRRD 898423); for the years 2001-2002 see Current Topics in Transport No. 80.2 (C 24143 S).
