Abstract

A driver-centered system architecture for the implementation of Intelligent Vehicle Highway Systems (IVHS) is presented. The design is based on the assumption that the timely, effective, and safe realization of a fully functional system is best facilitated through a focus on the capabilities and actions of individual drivers who compose the primary population of IVHS users.
