Abstract

Distracted driving as a traffic safety issue has received increased attention in recent months. In particular, cellular phone use has come under increased scrutiny. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s (NHTSA) primary method of estimating cell phone use is the National Occupant Protection Use Survey (NOPUS). The purpose of this document is to provide information about NOPUS and how it observes and reports on driver cell phone use. (Author/publisher)
