Abstract

Driver Licensing Practices in Australia has been an annual publication of the Federal Office of Road Safety since its first edition in 1984. Its aim has been to provide a useful and easily referenced compendium of Australian State and Territory driver licensing practices, particularly where comparisons between the various jurisdictions are of value. This, the 9th edition of Driver Licensing Practices, reflects licensing requirements in force on Australia at 31 December 1992, as well as significant developments in the driver training and licensing field. Information has been supplied by State and Territory authorities. This edition reflects the introduction of elements of the Federal Government's 10 point road safety package, including graduated licensing arrangements for young drivers and a national heavy vehicle driver's licensing scheme.
