Abstract

The effect of the vehicle on driving performance are discussed in terms of anthropometry, visibility, control design, workplace, layout and environment. Solutions to the problem of improving driver performance are offered. It is concluded that advances in vehicle safety and performance have increased the driver's chances of staying out of accidents on modern high density, high speed road systems, but many improvements in vehicle design are yet to be made.
