Abstract

A method of classifying drivers according to their risk-acceptance decisions, their visual perception capabilities, and their driving skills is presented. Laboratory experiments were carried out with 4 subjects in a drive-through gap situation in order to obtain a driver safety index. It was concluded that the method seems sensitive and successful in detecting differences among the drivers.
