Abstract

This paper considers developments world- wide to show the state- of- the- art of in- vehicle route guidance systems, and discusses their potential for improving traffic management and control, and for achieving savings in travel time and distance which are expected to lower fuel and other journey costs including accidents, pollution, and wear on vehicles, roads, and people.
