Driver strategy when perceiving cross-traffic.

Abstract

The present investigation attempted to identify strategies that drivers use when they approach an intersection and see that a vehicle is approaching on the crossroad. A simulator study was performed in order to assess the form of the relations hypothesised to exist between acceleration patterns and the temporal parameters assumed to be relevant.
