Abstract

This paper provides a review of projects to develop advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS). The development history of these systems is summarised, classified into types of system, including driver condition, vision, navigation, speed and communications. The growth of telematics led to intelligent transport systems, some of which are detailed. The role of various car manufacturers is examined, with some recent developments. Future trends are mentioned, with the need to study driver behaviour and driver needs. For the covering abstract see ITRD E113725 (C 22328 CD-ROM).
