Abstract

Inhalt: I. Introduction: A public health view of the situation concerning novice drivers (Assailly, J.-P., ITRD D346138); II. Theories and aims of educational and training measures (Hatakka, M.; Keskinen, E.; Gregersen, N.P.; Glad, A., ITRD D346139); III. Description and assessment of measures: III 1. Overall licensing systems (Gregersen, N.P., ITRD D346140); III 2. School-based measures (Siegrist, S.; Gregersen, N.P., ITRD D346141); III 3. Driver testing (Goldenbeld, C.; Baughan, C.J.; Hatakka, M., ITRD D346142); III 4. Driver Improvement (Chatenet, F.; Siegrist, S., ITRD D346143); III 5. Voluntary advanced driver training (Goldenbeld, C.; Hatakka, M., ITRD D346144); IV. Permanent improvement of licensing systems (Siegrist, S.; Skladany, P.; Hatakka, M., ITRD D346145); V. Executive Summary/Zusammenfassung/Resumé/Riassunto. (KfV/A) English abstract: The aim of Work Package 3 was to define best practice on the basis of a theoretical framework, available studies and expert judgements. The objective was to assess different models of driver education, training and testing with respect to their safety benefit and procedure recommendations for best practice. This was realised by summarising the relevant theoretical background, presenting the relevant aims of driver education, training and testing according to the conceptual hierarchical framework, assessing the influence on driver behaviour of main programmes and methods, and drawing conclusions for best practice in driver training and testing.
