Abstract

The enzyme gammaglutamyl- transpeptidase is generally acknowledged as a sensitive indicator of excessive alcohol consumption and has been used in two studies of drivers. The activity of the enzyme measured at the time of arrest may therefore be a simple way accurately to identify many high- risk individuals with [potential or actual drinking problems.
