Abstract

In this chapter, the authors review some of the key methodological and theoretical issues involving hazard perception. Firstly, they discuss potential criticisms of the relationship between accident involvement and hazard perception. Secondly, the authors look at hazard perception tests and their psychometric properties. Thirdly, the authors contrast some alternative theoretical accounts of hazard perception. Finally, they look at practical applications of hazard perception knowledge such as driving training and assessment. (Author/publisher)
