Abstract

The conference proceedings contain a keynote address by Charles Clarke, Minister of State and seven papers with the following titles: current concerns for traffic policing; the role of the magistrate; targeting the multiple offender; road casualty reduction: where does the responsibility lie?; preventing road traffic accidents: the role of an automotive 'black box'; putting partnership into action; and the involvement of lawyers. The UK Government's response to the report by PACTS (Parliamentary Advisory Council for Transport Safety) 'Road Traffic Law and Enforcement: a driving force for casualty reduction' is included in an appendix.
