Abstract

This paper reviews the scientific basis for statements regarding the blood alcohol concentration (BAC) at which impairment first appears in driving-related skills performance. While much of the earlier literature reported impairment at BACs of 100 mg% and above, the literature of the last decade has explored lower BACs. This recent work presents evidence of impairment in most areas at BACs below 30 mg%.
