Abstract

Some of the problems associated with driving simulator development are reviewed in light of experience with technically similar devices in the aeronautical field. It is stressed that the accurate simulation of the automobile transient characteristics will be necessary in research type simulators; possible in others. The difficulties associated with realistic presentation of the visual scene in a fixed-base simulator are discussed.
