Abstract

852 motorists were asked to say how much they would be worried if they had to drive in particular situations. The results showed that many drivers were worried about some of the situations posed, and in particular about motorway driving in bad weather conditions. The extent to which drivers may or may not be able to avoid such situations and the merit and feasibility of providing training or guidance to alleviate such worries are discussed.
