Abstract

This issue of Current Topics includes over 80 abstracts of reports, conference papers, books and journal articles which focus on the training, testing and licensing of drivers in the United Kingdom and abroad. Topics include driver training for all types of vehicle, including motorcycles. Abstracts concerning specialist courses on hazard perception, rehabilitation, skid training, refresher courses and training of driving instructors are included. The use of simulators for driver training, the psychology of driving and the effect of introducing graduated licensing schemes are also considered. These items have been selected from the material added to the Transport Research Laboratory's Library Database between 2002 and 2005. Much of the relevant English language published literature from the UK, USA, Australia and Europe is included; some of the non-UK literature is included courtesy of the OECD International Transport Research Documentation (ITRD) database. Abstracts for the years 1995-1998 can be found in a previous issue of this title: Current Topics in Transport 77.1 (C 11938 S). Abstracts for the years 2000-2001 can be found in a previous issue of this title: Current Topics in Transport 77.2 (C 20534 S)
